Straight answers
Four we get asked every week
Flooring is one of nine trades out of the Harrow yard.
Do I need the subfloor levelled?
Usually, and it is the cheapest part of the job. Laying a good floor on a bad subfloor is how you get hollow spots and lifting joints in year two.
Can you save my original boards?
If there is thickness left in them, yes — sanding and oiling is far cheaper than replacing, and it is the floor the house was built with.
Will the doors still close?
We undercut and rehang them as part of the job, and make thresholds flush. Nothing gets left catching.
Underfloor heating?
Fine with tile, resin and most engineered wood — we check the tog and the manufacturer limits before quoting, and Tom sets the manifold.
